ROCK FALLS — Rochelle stayed alive in the Junior League Baseball District Tournament with a 17-5 win over Rock Falls in four innings Wednesday. Rochelle collected 16 hits, led by Royce Scott with a double, two singles and four RBIs. Reed Daugherty added two singles and three RBIs, while Jeff Paige had three singles and an RBI. Rochelle will play Sterling at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Rochelle 8-10 Baseball Team Moves On
ROCHELLE — Rochelle defeated Rock Falls 14-4 in four innings Wednesday in the 8-10 Year Old District Baseball Tournament. Rochelle scored five runs in the third inning and finished with nine hits. Brekkon VanKirk had a triple, a single and two RBIs, while Conrad Harper added two singles and two RBIs. Rochelle will play at 6 p.m. Friday.
Rock Falls Eliminates Rochelle From 8-10 Softball Tournament
ROCK FALLS — Rock Falls scored nine runs in the first inning and defeated Rochelle 17-2 in three innings Wednesday in the 8-10 Year Old District Softball Tournament. Rochelle finished with four hits in the game. The loss eliminated Rochelle from the tournament.
The Blackhawks are already starting the upcoming season behind the eight-ball. Star center Connor Bedard will miss at least a month after undergoing shoulder surgery on Wednesday. He got hurt while training in Vancouver after he lost an edge and crashed into the boards. The top pick in the 2023 draft led the team with 75 points last season.
