Rochelle District 231 Sets Student Growth Goals and Expands Programs for 2026

ROCHELLE – Rochelle District 231 is focused on student growth, setting a goal to improve academic performance by 15% in STAR reading and math by May 2026. Assistant Superintendent Tony Doyle said on Tuesday that the plan involves enhancing district practices and expanding programs like the Phoenix leadership program and the district’s mentoring program. He said the district is also committed to increasing preschool access, planning a move to expand its preschool sections, and improving school safety. Other efforts include the establishment of task forces focusing on assessment, social and emotional learning, academic readiness, and recruitment and retention. Additionally, the district is reviewing and refining its curriculum, with particular attention to early literacy, and has been actively engaging students through initiatives like book giveaways and a “love of reading” committee.
