Rochelle Council Waives Bidding for Wastewater Blower Repair

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved an ordinance waiving competitive bidding requirements for repairs to Blower 3 at the wastewater treatment plant. City staff said the aeration blowers are critical to the biological treatment process and one unit is in need of repair. Officials said the original manufacturer, Aerzen, is uniquely qualified to complete the work due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and its need to meet original design standards. The city said the repair will ensure proper integration and continued operation of the system. The cost of the repair is $37,343.81 and will be paid through cash reserves, which have a budgeted balance of $106,683.
