Rochelle City Council Discusses Proposed Downtown Mural

ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council is considering a proposed downtown mural on the south side of the second story of ALM Fine Cabinetry. In 2024, the City issued a request for proposals to attract mural submissions from local and regional artists. After receiving a complete submission by the deadline, the Arts Committee began working with the selected artist.

Michelle Pease said they are open to any adjustments that need to be made. Council said they were leaning toward a design that prominently featured a train.

“So as you go over the overpass you’ll be able to see it,” she said. “It used to say shop Rochelle in bright yellow. So that’s where we’re proposing to put it.”

Several renderings were shared with council, and Pease noted they’ll contact the artist to get a final design ready for approval soon.
