Rochelle City Council Approves $60,200 Proposal for I-39 Fiber Crossing Project to Boost Electric Grid Communication

ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council approved an ordinance Monday waiving competitive bidding and accepting a $60,200 proposal from Utility Dynamics Corporation for the I-39 Fiber Crossing project. The expansion of the city’s fiber optic network will include placing underground conduit to connect the existing I-39 crossing to the pole line east of the interstate, enabling service to the landfill and the Village of Creston. This will improve communication about the RMU electric grid. Funding for the project will be coming from the Electric Funds budget.
