Rochelle Approves Higher Fiber Internet Speeds at No Extra Cost

ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council has approved a resolution to increase fiber optic internet speeds for customers through the Advanced Communications Department. Rochelle City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh said the update allows current customers to double their bandwidth at no additional cost if they sign a new agreement, while new customers can also access the improved service.

“We’re going to increase our bandwidth or increase our speeds, but we’ve actually never set our fiber and internet rates by code,” he said. “And so tonight’s also to ensure that we have a system in place where everybody pays the same and everybody has the same contract.”

The change is designed to boost competitiveness and support growth and development, with no new funding required.
