Raoul Urges Senate to Restore SNAP Benefits

CHICAGO — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined attorneys general from 23 states and the District of Columbia in urging the Senate to restore SNAP benefits and reject further cuts to food assistance in the upcoming Farm Bill. The coalition said recent federal changes could increase hunger, make it harder for eligible families to receive benefits and shift more costs to states. Raoul said more than 1.5 million Illinois residents rely on SNAP each month for food assistance.
