ROCHELLE – Project SEARCH will host an Information Night on Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. at the Rochelle Public Library to introduce students with disabilities, their families, educators, and community members to its workforce preparation program. Attendees will learn about internship opportunities, program details, and the application process, and hear from interns, families, and partners. Project SEARCH provides students ages 18 to 21 with three internships supported by on-site specialists and classroom instruction on employability and independent living skills.
“Project Search is like the training ground to get all these skills at work for someone who would maybe need like a job coach in the community, and going through this program helps them get a real job in the community and helps them be independent,” said Autumn Gabriel, Project SEARCH manager.
Students must have an individualized education plan, be referred by a participating school district, and be ready to graduate upon program completion.
