Pritzker Signs Law Requiring Cash Payments and Full Jury Duty Pay

SPRINGFIELD — Gov. JB Pritzker signed 87 bills into law last month, including measures requiring most businesses to accept cash for in person purchases under $500 beginning in 2028 and requiring employers with more than 25 workers to pay employees their full wages while serving on jury duty. The cash payment law applies to most retailers that process in person transactions, with exceptions including self checkout machines, online purchases and membership only businesses. Other new laws require schools to use more diverse CPR training manikins, colleges to report faculty teaching loads, rest areas to post human trafficking resources and Chicago airports to conduct regular noise studies.
