PrEP HIV Prevention Now Available Directly from Illinois Pharmacists

SPRINGFIELD –  A certain type of HIV prevention medicine is now more available to Illinoisans.  The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a standing order that will allow residents to obtain the medication known as PrEP directly from a pharmacist without a doctor’s prescription.  Health officials say PrEP is one of the most effective means of preventing HIV infection.
