POLO – Only two lead service lines remain to be replaced in Polo, but challenges with property ownership and cooperation are delaying the process. One vacant property on the 200 block of South Congress has unclear ownership, while another property owner has not complied with inspection and replacement efforts. If the city does not achieve full compliance, it will be required to conduct frequent water testing, potentially costing thousands. At the Polo City Council meeting Monday night, they chose to move forward with some legal solutions to get property owners into compliance. A full remediation report on lead and galvanized water lines is due to the EPA by June 1st.
