POLO – Polo Area Community Theatre (PACT) is working to secure the Old Polo Town Hall, a historic building that has been the group’s home for nearly 20 years. Buffalo Township is supportive of transferring ownership to PACT, which has provided live performances at the venue since 2006. However, the township’s final decision on May 14 will depend on PACT’s ability to manage the building’s daily expenses and necessary repairs, including accessibility updates and electrical work.
Kristen Dubois, Founder and Artistic Director of the Polo Area Community Theatre, said that they have worked over the years to make the space work for the performances they give.
“It’s not just about the theater, but it’s a historic Polo landmark. So we’d like to see the Polo citizens get on board with helping us and helping fund us or donating time or resources to keep this building or bring it back,” she said. “Polo recently knocked down the historic Congress School and so the big thing is nobody wants to see that happen again.”
Community members are encouraged to contribute to the effort through one-time or monthly donations, with funds directed toward building upkeep and future projects.
The next show this season for PACT is “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood”, a fun, family-friendly retelling of the classic story with quirky characters that both kids and adults will enjoy. The show runs on May 2nd through the 10th, details are at the website PoloTheater.org.
