SPRINGFIELD – The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has announced $4 million in grants for 178 fire departments, districts, and EMS providers statewide. The funding is part of the 2024 Small Equipment Grant Program, which provides grants of up to $26,000 for essential firefighting and ambulance equipment. In DeKalb County, the Lee Community Fire Protection District received $25,000, and the Malta Fire Protection District was awarded $11,997. The grants are designed to support fire and emergency medical services in acquiring necessary equipment that may otherwise be unaffordable. Across Illinois, $7.7 million was requested through 347 applications.
