Oregon Park District Calls for Help Protecting Historic Fountain Statue

OREGON – The Oregon Park District is asking for the public’s help to protect the “Fish Boys” fountain at Mix Park, a historic sculpture by Lorado Taft that’s been part of the community for more than 100 years. In recent weeks, there have been reports of children climbing and playing in the fountain, which could damage the statue and lead to injuries. The artwork was nearly lost in the 1970s before being saved by Donald L. Reed and later restored in 2017 during a $12,000 project that took over a month. Park visitors are asked to keep an eye on children, respect the artwork, and report any problems to the Oregon Park District or Oregon Police Department.
