Oregon Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Pursuit

OREGON — A 39-year-old Oregon man was arrested Saturday evening after a traffic stop led to a brief pursuit according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they attempted to stop a vehicle around 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of West Illinois Route 64, but the vehicle allegedly continued eastbound before stopping near the intersection of Lovers Lane and Illinois Street. Following an investigation, deputies arrested Andrew Swift of Oregon, on charges of driving with a suspended license, fleeing and eluding, and two Ogle County warrants for failure to appear related to operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine. Swift also received citations for improper transportation of cannabis, faulty muffler, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and illegal transportation of an open alcohol container. Authorities said Swift was released on a notice to appear on the new charges and held on the active warrants. The Oregon Police Department assisted at the scene.
