Oregon Adopts New Rules for RV Storage and Parking

OREGON – The Oregon City Council has adopted an ordinance establishing new rules for parking and storing recreational vehicles and trailers on residential properties. The ordinance requires recreational vehicles to be stored inside an enclosed structure or meet specific requirements for outdoor storage. Vehicles must be in good condition, roadworthy and properly licensed, and cannot block public sidewalks. Owners must keep the area around recreational vehicles free of weeds and other accumulated storage materials. The ordinance also prohibits recreational vehicles from being used as permanent dwellings or for sleeping or storage of materials, except as allowed under city code. Recreational vehicles cannot be permanently connected to water, gas, electricity or sanitary sewer service, subject to an exception in the ordinance. Visitors may temporarily stay in a recreational motor vehicle for up to 14 days in any six month period. The city manager or police chief may grant an extension for extenuating circumstances upon request from the homeowner.
