DEKALB — A person was seriously hurt in a shooting Wednesday afternoon outside the Russell Road Apartments in DeKalb. Police were called to the 800 block of Russell Road around 1:45 PM after reports of gunfire. The victim was reportedly flown to a hospital in Rockford and is in unknown condition. A 28-year-old man was taken into custody facing a number of felony charges. The DeKalb Police Department says that Darvionte D. Fultz was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He remains in the DeKalb County Jail pending a pretrial hearing. The investigation is ongoing.
