Ogle County Sheriff Announces July Speed Enforcement Campaign

OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office will join the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies in a statewide traffic enforcement campaign to crack down on speeding from July 8 through July 31. Drivers can expect increased patrols throughout Ogle County during the campaign, with deputies watching for speeding and other traffic violations. The sheriff’s office said drivers who are caught speeding will be stopped and ticketed. Sheriff Brian VanVickle said speeding continues to put drivers and others at risk by reducing the ability to react to traffic, road hazards, and curves. The enforcement campaign is funded through federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the state’s Speeding Catches Up With You traffic safety campaign.
