OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois for the 2026 Click It or Ticket campaign running May 15 through May 26 during the Memorial Day travel period. Sheriff Brian VanVickle said seat belts save lives and urged drivers and passengers to buckle up every trip and every time. Officers will conduct increased enforcement day and night with a focus on seat belt violations, and motorists who are not buckled can expect to be stopped and ticketed. Illinois law requires seat belt use for all drivers and passengers. Officials said seat belt use reached 93 percent in 2025, but unrestrained crash deaths remain a concern, especially at night. The campaign is funded with federal highway safety money administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
