SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced several northern Illinois locations will take part in the state’s free agrichemical container recycling program beginning in August. The program allows farmers and agrichemical facilities to recycle eligible pesticide containers instead of throwing them away. Northern Illinois collection sites include Helena Agri Enterprises in Kirkland on Aug. 3, CHS Inc. in Maple Park on Aug. 3, Conserv FS in Rockford on Aug. 4, Pearl City Elevator in Dakota on Aug. 5 and Ag View FS in Milledgeville on Aug. 5. The department said only clean and dry high density polyethylene #2 plastic agrichemical containers will be accepted. Participants must rinse containers and remove caps, labels and other materials before recycling.
