ROCHELLE – The removal of the old playground at VFW Park has taken place, ahead of the planned installation of new play areas. At the Regular Flagg Rochelle Community Park District Board Meeting Monday night, it was announced that they hope to get the new equipment in place by June 1st. Last year the district was awarded a substantial grant that will help cover the cost of the playgrounds. The matching grants from Gametime, an equipment manufacturer in Alabama, will greatly reduce the cost of updating some of the over 20-year-old play features at Hillcrest, Sweeney, VFW, and Skare Park.
