New Endowment Fund in Rochelle Honors Late Educator’s Commitment to Children

ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Area Community Foundation has announced the creation of the John Bearrows Family Endowment in Memory of Denise Halsey Moore, a donor-advised fund established by Dina and John Bearrows and their family to support children and education in the Rochelle area. Moore, a Rochelle native and National Board-Certified Teacher, dedicated her life to inspiring young minds before passing away at age 39. Instead of creating another scholarship, the Bearrows family chose to support evolving local needs through grants focused on youth programs and educational support. A book signing for John Bearrows’ memoir will be held June 25 at Luna in Rochelle, with all proceeds benefiting the fund.
