CHICAGO – Several names are being floated as potential successors to U.S. Senator Dick Durbin. The Illinois Democrat announced that he won’t seek re-election in 2026. Possible contenders include U.S. Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi of Schaumburg, Robin Kelly of Matteson, Lauren Underwood of Naperville and Illinois Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. State Treasurer Michael Frerichs is also weighing a bid. Durbin says he isn’t ready to endorse a candidate.
