The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multiple vehicle crash in the area of Route 2 and Plock Road in rural Dixon Sunday evening. Deputies say a vehicle driven by 52 year old Sandra Seeley of Dixon was east bound on Route 2 at a high rate of speed, when it struck a vehicle driven by 18 year old Elizabeth Elsasser of Mount Morris that was also east bound. The crash caused the Seeley vehicle to cross the median into west bound traffic and crashed into a vehicle driven by 37 year old Jason Kopitas of Ashton.
All three drivers were checked by medical personnel at the scene. Elsasser was taken to OSF St. Katherine for minor injuries. Seeley was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued citations for Improper Traffic Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Illinois State Police, Dixon Rural Fire Department and Advance EMS Ambulance Services.
