ROCHELLE — Memorial Day services and parades will take place Monday across Rochelle and surrounding communities with events honoring fallen service members. In Rochelle, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. from City Hall and travel through downtown before ending at Lawnridge Cemetery, where a ceremony will follow. Organizers said the event is hosted by the Rochelle VFW, American Legion, and the City of Rochelle, with lineup starting at 9:45 a.m. and no registration required. In DeKalb, events include a 6:15 a.m. Memorial Day breakfast at the Elks Lodge, an 8 a.m. ceremony in Memorial Park, and a 9 a.m. parade to the Ellwood House, followed by a program and tours. Sycamore will hold a 10:30 a.m. parade ending at Elmwood Cemetery with a ceremony at 11 a.m. Mendota’s program is set for 10:30 a.m. at Restland Cemetery Memorial Gardens with participation from veterans groups and the Mendota Alumni Band. Oregon will host a family event beginning at noon at the VFW Post. Additional services are planned in Byron, Compton, West Brooklyn, Sterling, and Kings throughout the morning.
MENDOTA

SYCAMORE
• Memorial Day Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. from California Street to Elmwood Cemetery.
• Ceremony at Elmwood Cemetery at 11 a.m. with veterans groups, Scouts, and patriotic music.
DEKALB
• Mayor’s Memorial Day Breakfast begins at 6:15 a.m. at the DeKalb Elks Lodge.
• Memorial Park ceremony at 8 a.m. followed by the parade at 9 a.m. through downtown.
• Memorial Day program and free mansion tours at Ellwood House beginning at 9:30 a.m.
BYRON
American Legion Byron Post 209 will host a service at 10 a.m. at Generations at Neighbors Rehabilitation and Post Acute Care Center in Byron. The service will feature the Byron High School Band, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and a guest speaker.
OREGON
• VFW Post 8739 Memorial Day celebration begins at noon at 1310 West Washington Street with food trucks, vendors, and family activities.
COMPTON
• Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. at Melugin’s Grove Cemetery followed by a flag burning ceremony.
WEST BROOKLYN
• Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. at West Brooklyn Cemetery.
STERLING
• American Legion Post 296 Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Grandon Civic Center. Bad weather will move the event to Sterling High School Auditorium.KINGS
• White Rock Cemetery Memorial Day Association service begins at 9:30 a.m. at Elim Reformed Church followed by a cemetery program and refreshments.
