McCombie Bills Address Chronic Wasting Disease Management Pass

SPRINGFIELD – Two bills introduced by House Minority Leader Tony McCombie to change how Chronic Wasting Disease is handled in Illinois passed unanimously in the House this week. House Bill 2339 would phase out the state’s deer sharpshooting program in counties without a confirmed case of the disease for three years. House Bill 2340 would expand access to landowner permits by lowering the minimum acreage requirement from 40 to 20 acres in affected counties. Both bills now move to the Senate for consideration.
