March is Severe Weather Preparedness Month

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and the Office of Homeland Security want to remind residents that March is Severe Weather Preparedness Month, raising awareness about being ready for severe weather. The Illinois EMA provides resources and promotes emergency preparedness kits to help families prepare for various weather emergencies, like a Family Communications Plan. Flood insurance is also recommended by the Illinois Department of Insurance and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to mitigate property damage.
