HINCKLEY – A 51-year-old pilot from Maple Park was killed Saturday afternoon when a 1946 Aeronca 7AC single-engine plane crashed into a farm field west of the Hinckley Airfield at 12747 US-30 in Hinckley, Illinois. The crash also injured a 3-year-old passenger, also from Maple Park, who was first taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb and later transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago in stable condition. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, along with local police and fire departments from Hinckley, Waterman, and Big Rock, responded to the scene. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash.
