DEKALB – A 44-year-old man faces attempted murder and hate crime charges after being accused of attacking another person with a machete in DeKalb. Police say the victim was attacked early Thursday in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive. He was sent to the hospital with a serious injury to his right forearm. The suspect, Joshua Boyer, admitted to attacking the victim with a machete over money. Witnesses claim he made racial epithets towards the victim during the attack and threatened to kill him. Boyer and the victim were living together.
