Malta Man Charged After Knife Incident

MALTA – A 42-year-old Malta man is facing multiple charges after repeated incidents in the community, culminating in a confrontation with law enforcement while possessing a knife. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says they were informed multiple times about a resident allegedly misusing 911, repeatedly calling with no emergency to report. Authorities say Tyne R. Makarrall made threats to law enforcement while on the phone. Makarrall also reportedly was knocking on residents doors in Malta late at night asking to use their phones and acting erratically. The DeKalb County States Attorney’s Office charged him with Felony Disorderly Conduct. On Wednesday Deputies contacted Makarrall, who they say was carrying a knife and allegedly made threats and advances towards deputies while at a convenience store. He was charged with Assault, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, and Threatening a Public Official. He remains held in the DeKalb County Jail ahead of a pretrial release hearing.
