DEKALB — Voter turnout in primary elections is often low, with participation sometimes reaching only about one in five eligible voters. Data from the Illinois State Board of Elections shows turnout in the March 2024 primary was 18.4 percent in DeKalb County, 19.2 percent in Ogle County, and 17.8 percent in Lee County. Turnout was much higher in the November 5, 2024 general election, with turnout around 75%. National turnout in the 2024 general election was about 64.1 percent, while the national primary turnout average was about 21.5 percent.
