DIXON – At the April 24th Lee County Board meeting, Sheriff Clay Whelan recognized Corporal Josh Coward and Deputy Justin White for their life-saving actions following a crash on I-88 near Milepost 63. On March 7th, the deputies responded to an iPhone crash alert and a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle accident. They arrived within minutes, joined by a state trooper and EMS, and performed CPR on a 19-year-old Iowa City woman. Using an AED, the deputies administered four shock cycles with continued CPR before the victim was transported to a hospital in Rockford, where she survived and continues to receive treatment.
