Lawmakers Push To Delay Illinois’ Credit Card Fee Law

SPRINGFIELD —  Illinois lawmakers are pushing to delay a state law that bans certain credit card fees.  The ban was set to take effect July 1st while it is being challenged by banks.  The law blocks banks and credit card companies from charging retailers a small fee on taxes and tips.  Governor Pritzker still has to sign off on the legislature’s move to extend the deadline to July 1st, 2026.
