Judge Expected to Give Decision Next Month on Gounaris Release

OREGON – An Ogle County Judge is expected to give a decision next month on if a man accused of attempting to murder police officers could be released pretrial. Jonathan Gounaris is accused of firing on officers during a standoff last June in rural Ogle County. An attorney for the 32-year-old argued in court earlier this week that he should be released for treatment for mental illness. Gounaris was previously denied pretrial release. The Judge is expected to announce his decision April 7th.
