Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Warns About Fraud Scam

GALENA  —  The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a fraud scam.  The department says they have been receiving an increased amount of fraud complaints.  In one instance, a scammer posed as a member of the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and requested payment for a bond on an active warrant via an electronic wire transfer.  The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is also seeing an increase in internet-based frauds regarding sales for heavy equipment.
