Indigenous Folk Group Twin Flames to Perform in Bishop Hill

BISHOP HILL, Illinois — Twin Flames, a Canadian folk group known for their unique blend of folk and rock music, will perform live at the Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Saturday, March 29. The event, open to all ages, will begin with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. A donation of $20-30 is suggested for admission.

The group, consisting of husband-and-wife duo Jaaji and Chelsey June, is celebrated for their ability to merge Indigenous and Western musical styles. Their performances showcase the powerful sounds of traditional drums, Indigenous spirit flutes, and contemporary instruments, offering a unique experience for listeners.

Twin Flames has earned significant recognition, including four Canadian Folk Music Awards and a 2022 Vocal Group of the Year title. Their music, which blends English, French, and Inuttitut lyrics, reflects their deep cultural connections. The duo has earned praise worldwide, accumulating over 50 music awards and nominations throughout their career.
