Illinois Supreme Court Expands Pro Bono Program For New Attorneys

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Supreme Court has approved a rule change allowing newly admitted attorneys to participate in a pro bono pilot program that offers Minimum Continuing Legal Education credit for volunteer legal work. Attorneys can earn one MCLE credit for every two hours of approved pro bono service, up to five credits per reporting period. The change takes effect July 1, 2026.
