WASHINGTON DC – A bipartisan group of Illinois lawmakers is backing a national effort to impose term limits on Congress through an Article V convention, joining a total of six legislators from the state. Supporters include state Sen. Andrew Chesney, R-Freeport, and U.S. Reps. Darin LaHood, R-Peoria, and Eric Sorensen, D-Rockford. The campaign, led by U.S. Term Limits, seeks support from 34 states to pressure Congress to act. So far, 12 states have passed the resolution, with more expected to consider it this year.
