Illinois House Unanimously Passes Bill to Expedite Removal of Squatters from Homes

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois House of Representatives last week unanimously passed what is being called the Squatter bill. The measure would make it easier for police to remove squatters from someone’s home and avoid the months-long eviction process. Previously, squatters were allowed to stay at the property during the court process to get them out of the premises. The bill can now go to the governor for his signature.
