Illinois EPA Honors Young Environmentalists for Creativity in Waste Reduction Contest

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) celebrated Earth Month by recognizing fifth and sixth grade students for their creative works in the Annual Poster, Poetry, and Prose Contest on April 5th. Held at the Illinois State Library in Springfield, the ceremony honored students for their artistic and writing skills on the theme “How Can You Slash Your Trash?” The contest encouraged students to explore ways to reduce waste, such as composting, recycling, and reducing single-use products. Five students from Mary Morgan Elementary in Byron were honored.
