SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has introduced a new Measles Outbreak Simulator Dashboard to assist school officials and the public in evaluating the potential risk of measles outbreaks. The dashboard provides easy access to measles vaccination rates for both public and private schools across the state, allowing users to assess the likelihood of exposure if a case is introduced. Although no new cases have been reported in Illinois since early 2024, the department is monitoring outbreaks in other states. The tool uses 2023-2024 school data and will be updated as new information becomes available. School administrators are encouraged to use the dashboard to make decisions regarding measles prevention and control. The public can also access the tool to stay informed about vaccination rates in their communities.
