DEKALB COUNTY — The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning a project to rebuild the intersection of Illinois Route 23 and Chicago Road into a roundabout in DeKalb County. The work is listed in the state highway program for fiscal years 2025 through 2030 and depends on funding and project readiness. The project includes new drainage, lighting, and entrance improvements, and will require additional land acquisition. The west leg of Chicago Road is expected to close during construction. A virtual public meeting will open April 14 with materials and a recorded presentation posted online. The public can review the plans and submit comments through May 14. IDOT will respond to comments and post a summary on the project website.
