IDOR Offers Tips For Amending State Tax Returns

SPRINGFIELD –  The Illinois Department of Revenue is offering tips for amending state tax returns.  Taxpayers are reminded that if they discover an error on a previously filed state income tax return, they are required to file an amended return to correct the mistake.  While filing an amended return, taxpayers should use the correct form, include supporting documents, provide a clear explanation, sign and date the form, and submit the completed return as soon as an error is identified.
