ICC Funds Rail Crossing Upgrades in Northern Illinois


CHICAGO – The Illinois Commerce Commission’s five-year Crossing Safety Improvement Program will allocate millions for safety upgrades at highway-rail crossings in Ogle and DeKalb counties. Projects include installing gates, LED lighting, and remote monitors at crossings in Rochelle, Stillman Valley, Byron, and Genoa. The plan, funded by the Grade Crossing Protection Fund and Rebuild Illinois, covers upgrades at 963 crossings statewide. Ogle County will receive approximately $4.58 million for crossing improvements, including $1.09 million for projects in Rochelle.
