House Passes Bill To Rename Plainfield Post Office After Staff Sergeant Jose Dueñez Jr

WASHINGTON — The U.S. House unanimously approved legislation sponsored by Rep. Lauren Underwood to rename the Plainfield Post Office in honor of Staff Sergeant Jose Dueñez Jr., sending the measure to the Senate for consideration. The bill designates the facility at 14855 South Van Dyke Road in Plainfield and received support from the full Illinois congressional delegation. Dueñez was killed during a U.S. Army training exercise in Lithuania in March 2025 along with three other soldiers. He served for seven years after enlisting following high school.
