PAW PAW – One man was hurt and a home suffered significant damage after an explosion Friday night in Lee County. Paw Paw Fire Chief Robert Edwards said they were called around 6:15 PM to the 1100 block of Steward Road where they found a two-story home with structural damage. Authorities say no residents were home but a contractor, who was injured, was doing work on the furnace. He was transported from the scene to a Rockford hospital with what was described as burn injuries. The blast blew out most of the windows and buckled some of the exterior walls. The cause of the blast is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
