DAVIS JUNCTION — Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County is making progress on its 15th home build, located at 117 Prairie Moon Drive in Davis Junction. The walls are up and trusses are expected next, with construction on track for completion by December, weather permitting. The home is being built with the help of volunteers and the future homeowner, who is contributing 200 hours of sweat equity as part of the program. The recipient family will receive a zero-interest mortgage and take responsibility for maintenance. Volunteers can learn more at habitatoglecounty.org.
Sheri Anspaugh, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County said it really is a community project.
“The neighborhood has been so supportive, all the people in Davis Junction have just really supported us,” she said. “We’ve had many neighbors come in to help with the construction. We’re hoping to have it done hopefully by December, everything’s moving along really quickly and we’re super excited.”
