SYCAMORE – Give DeKalb County will take place May 1, offering online, mail-in, and in-person donation options to support 164 participating nonprofits and endowment funds. The 24-hour event has raised more than $10.7 million since 2014 and is organized by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Donations made during the event are eligible for a boost from a Bonus Pool funded by local partners.
DCNP (DeKalb County Non-Profit Partnership) Director Ben Bingle said it has become a spectator sport for donors and recipients.
“The website’s going to change at midnight on May 1st and you’ll see a leaderboard there. You’ll see donations rolling in in real time,” he said. “You’ll see a social media feed at the bottom that has all kinds of activity on it. So, again, you can make your gift there. But right now we’re accepting mail-in donations.”
In-person donations can be made from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 1 at the foundation’s office in Sycamore.
