STILLMAN VALLEY – The Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois will open a new Maker Space at Camp McCormick in Stillman Valley on Sunday, April 13. The space, which includes materials and equipment for robotics, engineering, textiles, and video making, is designed to enhance STEM education for local youth. The project received funding from grants by Collins Aerospace, Nicor Gas, and the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, as well as donations through Amazon Wishlist. Volunteers from Collins Aerospace also contributed time and expertise to prepare the space. The project was led by Maple Park Girl Scout Kaitlin Liu as part of her Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
