Giannoulias Distributes $1.3 Million to Nearly 2,500 Illinois School Libraries

SPRINGFIELD – Secretary of State and State Librarian Alexi Giannoulias awarded over $1.3 million to 2,484 public school libraries across Illinois. Based on enrollment, each school receives $0.885 per student to buy books, digital media, multilingual materials, and technology. Local highlights: DeKalb CUSD 428 received $5,485.23, Sycamore CUSD 427 got $3,102.81, Dixon CUSD 170 was awarded $1,999.22, Rochelle RTHS 212 received $850, and Rochelle CCSD 231 got $1,235.46. The grants come from the state’s General Revenue Fund and are distributed annually each spring.
